RUKHSANA KHAN

MIND, BODY, & SOUL...

The three core principles to one’s optimal health and well-being and no one quite understands them better than our founder Rukhsana Khan.

After years of studying at the esteemed Chopra Centre for Well Being, Rukhsana has proven herself to be an all-round professional in health and wellness teachings. She is a certified Primordial Sound Meditation Instructor and fully qualified in the ‘Perfect Health’ Chopra program.

In addition to her primary practice, she is an accredited Ayurvedic Body Therapist and Counsellor.

THE JOURNEY TO MINDFULNESS WAS NOT EASY...

Rukhsana’s journey begins in the city of Peshawar, Pakistan, where she endured an unconventional childhood.

Following the separation of her parents at only 5 years old, she was uprooted and forced to live with her grandparents.  Her upbringing in this household revolved around intense training and the expectation to cook and prepare meals, despite her young age.

More hardship was to follow at age 11. Her uncle attempted an honour killing on Rukhsana after she had been accused of dishonouring the family. She survived but following her near-death experience her uncle and grandfather kept her locked in her room, with the door bolted shut; she was only allowed out to perform her daily duties.

Although these times were difficult, Rukhsana’s struggle led her to find the benefits of meditation. It was her purpose to experience this.

A NEW BEGINNING DAWNED...

At 16, Rukhsana migrated to Calgary, Canada to live with her father. After graduating from school, she worked as a nurse’s aide at a local nursing home, all while visiting and exploring over 20 countries in the process. After spending the rest of her young adulthood in Canada and meeting her loving husband, she dedicated her time and energy to raising her 3 children in Vancouver. It was at this point Rukshana decided to start channelling her inner purpose through her new life as a parent.

After continuing to succeed as a mother, Rukhsana focused on her Dharma (her true calling) in wanting to help others and furthered her education. After becoming a certified Esthetician and Master Pedicurist, she went on to open a successful retreat and spa in Vancouver; ‘Rukhsana’s Esthetics and Heavenly Retreat’. It was considered a jewel in her community and represented to the Olympic committee for the 2010 Winter Olympics. Despite its clear success, Rukshana knew this was not the path she was destined to take. She realised the best way to follow her Dharma, was not helping people feel beautiful externally, but from within.

Leading her to the Chopra Centre of Wellbeing.

THE NEW WORLD OF AYURVEDA...

It wasn’t until she attended a lecture at the College of Ayurveda in California that everything started to click. Enlightened by Mark Helpern’s lecture, Rukhsana realized that Ayurveda’s foundations and philosophy were truly aligned with the way she felt about life.

She visited the Sivananda Yoga Farm Ashram in California, which influenced her to dedicate four years cutting out all frozen, canned and fried foods, meats, wearing the colour black and she began meditating regularly.

Her results turned out remarkably. Not only did her mind heal from her depressed state, but her physical well-being was healthier than ever. Through her journey of transformation, she then vowed to share her teachings and experience with the world…

The path of Rukhsana’s self-discovery and her refined practise in Ayurveda has led to her new life in Los Cabos, Mexico. Her aim is to restore health and one’s true self to anybody that feels they’ve lost their path through her heavenly retreat here in Los Cabos, where she hosts a number of retreats, workshops and private events for you to discover.
